St John’s!

Hello guys,

Mission accomplish!

Arrived today in St John’s and went to Cap Spear who’s the most Eastern part of the Canada and believe me was quite a tough 7 miles / 12 km ride but man it worth the last effort! I met many people there who was coming to me as they saw my loaded bike and asked me lot of questions and was taking photos! Was crazy and had difficulties to leave as the night was falling and had 7 miles / 12 km hilly road back to St John’s!

I’m still in the sky and will maybe land tomorrow but was an amazing Journey across Canada! Words miss me how to explain how it was special for me and have my brain overloaded of so wonderful images and emotions it will take some time to express them!

As you know I dedicated my Journey to my mother, father and military comrade Robert and believe me they was with me all the way long in the good and bad moments and will certainly never make it without their spirit! Few time I tough I will at last rejoin them as I had several “close call” but I guess was not yet my time!

I’m never been very good for thanks people then I will just say:

to everybody I met, helped me, supported me along my Journey across Canada!

Now I will need some time to digest this amazing Journey and I promise I will finish my blog that I couldn’t sadly by the false of a bloody connector that nobody could repair!

The most difficult part now is back to “normal life” and it fell already strange to have taken a shower and see a bed at the hotel! I think I will sleep on the floor 😉

Man! I’m in paradise and don’t want land!!!!

Take care everybody!

423 miles / 650 km to go…!

Hello guys,

The technology let’s me down as they didn’t like the rough treatment of wild camping and not possible to fix a thing here around!

Had few problems as usual but fixed them one by one but still moving to St John’s in almost one piece 😉

423 miles / 650 km to go 😉

I’m one time more in a Flintstone’s bicycle who have to last until the end as no bicycle shop around until St John’s!

Really sorry that I couldn’t continue my blog until the end but I will do when back to civilization!

Take care everybody!

Camp 41

Hello guys,

It’s funny that it’s sometime more difficult to find a spot for the night in remote area that even in big city. All the forest along the Hwy 108 are private land for logger and had no choice to “brake the law” and found a spot inside the forest and as it’s so remote with almost no traffic no trouble Winking smile But it’s quite a strange area as never saw a forest so quite with no animals noise at all even no foolish squirrels.

Very quite and resting night.

Take care everybody!

Day 41

Hello guys,

The New Brunswick isn’t flat at all and I love it!

Weather: Sun and hot (28 C) at start and cover later on

Distance: 84 miles / 134 miles

Speed: 11 mph / 17.6 km/h

I’m really sorry that I can’t post my daily blog as no internet connection and I’m not 3 days late Sad smile

I started the day quite late (11 am) as I crossed yesterday one more time zone and lost 1h. I was already quite tired and my knee pain didn’t help then I slept 1 hour more for be back on track. My knee is still quite painful but I got a nast spider sting in the other leg then it will compensate Open-mouthed smile

I went to police station next of my camp site (feel secure Winking smile) for ask if I could use the Trans Canadian  Hwy 2 as you know the problem I had already. And it was quite amazing that even there I got 3 different answers from the three policemen who was present. Yes but…,no but…,maybe…!?!!? Seriously if they even know how I suppose to know! Anyway one of them advise me to take the Hwy 144 who’s following the Hwy 2 and is much quitter.

In same time I bought some drink in the grocery of the village and the tenants was very nice and we had a chat.

I followed then the Hwy 144 for a while until it diverged from the Hwy 2. Then I had to buy a map as no internet connection for check Google Sad smile And I found a other way by the Hwy 108 but saw that during a large part of it was no village at all and knew it will be fun….Winking smile

And btw the New Brunswick it quite hilly and with some nasty steep one hills and I love it even with my bad knee and spider sting!

The first part of the Hwy 108 was alright and I was “playing” again with a big thunderstorm. They are so big here that they are slow and you can beat them not like in Europe as when you see it it’s already too late as you got it 2 min later.

After I saw a sign indicating station service 1 km (0.6 mile0 next one 138 km (86 miles)….then I knew that I had the right feeling when /I saw on the map no villages at all along the road….I asked a local man at the gas station about the road and it confirm it me that was nothing there only the road and forest and wish me good luck who’s not a good sign…..And man it’s really nothing there and It’s the most remote area I have been since the start of my Journey! Very hilly area along a forest with almost no traffic in the middle of nowhere. Better don’t have problem there as you will be in real trouble!

It’s quite amazing how many different landscapes and area type I crossed during my Journey across Canada. My head start to overload of so wonderful images and feeling. And you realize that even more when you’re in the middle of nowhere like now and make me think whatever happen next isn’t really matter! St John’s still my goal but I had already so many wonderful moments and saw so many beautiful landscape it’s quite amazing!

Now I tough it will be easy to find a spot for the night but all the land along the road are private….Then no choice to brake the law again and set the camp in the forest. I guess nobody will check me!

I will try again to post my 3 last day on my blog today.

Take care everybody!

Camp 40

Hello guys,

After few try I finally found a spot inside the forest again. As I crossed one more time zone I have been caught by the night and had to pull out the camp in the night with these bloody mosquitos!

I was quite tired as the day was long and my knee painful.

Still no internet connection and little power Sad smile

Very good night sleep as I was tired and even the squirrels didn’t even bother me!

Take care everybody!

Day 40

Hello guys,

Playing with the borders!

Weather: Sun and hot (30 C) as usual

Distance: 110 miles / 176 km

Speed: 11.6 mph / 18.6 km/h

After battery problem now no internet connection and isn’t like in Europe where you can find internet café everywhere…I’m sorry but I’m now two day behind on my blog and I will try my best to be back on track.

I left quite early and finally found a way out of Riviere du Loup for continue my road but it didn’t last long as of course the Hwy 185 became not allowed to bicycle. I continued anyway on it for like 10 miles but when I realize that it will be like that until the next “big” city and decided to exit as the odd to be catch by the police was to high Winking smile

Then back to the back road but was not too bad roads conditions for a time but became later for 10 miles like Paris-Roubaix again (I have been ask why I refer to Paris-Roubaix, it’s a cyclist classic who’s held on “stone” road and it’s quite an hard race). Later on I met Jean-Louis (jeez not sure of the name again) who is working in the area but living in Montreal. We had a nice chat and it’s what I like in Quebec as people are friendly and don’t only interest to themselves and engage the conversation easily. You don’t feel like an UFO crossing town! (Ce fut un plaisir de te rencontre et qui sait peut etre a une autre fois a Montreal.) Was a little word to him in French.

I continued my road and enter to the New Brunswick but again by the back door then no photo of “welcome to New Brunswick” and not even for Quebec on the other side as you know I missed it too when I enter to Quebec! I followed a river and the other side of it is USA. I was really playing with the borders today.I arrived to Edmundston but quite a small city. I bought provisions and exit the city to find a spot for the night. But it took quite some time to find a suitable “room” for the night as I become more and more picky about the spot Smile with tongue out I finally found in a wood and guess who’s back…squirrels Baring teeth smile Man they can be so noisy like a rock concert!

Tomorrow I will continue my road across the New Brunswick heading to the Prince Edward Island. For the first I had some pain on my knee (the one who’s been crush when young and doing half pipe skateboard) But it will be ok and pain is a good sign as it mean you still alive! I’m quite amaze that since the start I don’t have any pain on my leg at all. Tired some day of course but no pain until today on my knee.

Alright will try my best to post as soon as possible on the blog.

Take care everybody!

Camp 39

Hello guys,

As a thunderstorm was coming and that I didn’t have battery left to check how to exit this bloody city without using Hwy not allowed to bicycle I decided to pull out camp quite early. Funny think I pulled it along the Hwy I can’t use Winking smile Nice spot hidden from the road.

Took some amazing sky photos as even the sky look big and amazing here!

I realize that my tent is going even more down as all segment of the already braked pole start to crack! Then I put some magic electric tape for reinforce them. Hope it will last until the end!

The night was quite and woke up early for find my way out from here.

Take care everybody!

Day 39

Hello guys,

The St Laurent…what a river!

Weather: sun and hot (29C)

Distance: 85 miles / 136 km

Speed: 13.3 mph / 21 km/h

First at all I had to fix my faulty connection of my solar panel as no battery at all left. After 3 shops I found a real technician willing to fix it. He took some time but he did! At least I will have some power for continue my blog Winking smile

After that it was already past 11 am and I didn’t even did 2 miles Open-mouthed smile I then started to pulling nice mileage at very good speed as the wind was in my favor!!!! Miracle happen Smile with tongue out I’m following the St Laurent who become larger and larger like a see. It’s quite an amazing river! All along nice small villages with beautiful church and house. I met along the road some nice people (no, no girls today Sarcastic smile) friendly as I expected from Quebecois. Quite nice to have some contact with the local population not like in the western province! And it will get even friendlier heading more East.

I really enjoyed the day as quite traffic, nicer peoples and beautiful landscape. Did a lot of photos and have to skip some time some scenery as I will not advance if I stop every mile / km!

As usual when arriving in a bigger city problem with Hwy is back and as a thunderstorm and no battery on my notebook for check the road I decided to pull out the camp along the road.

I have some battery back on but not much then I hope it will be sunny tomorrow for be back to normal.

Take care everybody!

Camp 38

Hello guys,

The spot for the night was not the best of all my camp but was alright as hidden from the road and not much mosquitos! I guess I don’t have much blood left as they are not interested as before at me Open-mouthed smile

Good night sleep with no squirrels fooling around Party smile

Take care everybody!
